The Balm Mary Lou Manizer - The Luminizer - Review

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

My  luminizer is pretty! It brightens your look with a little bit of shimmers. You can also use it as an eyeshadow. The packaging is very attractive, it looks like a Benefit product with this vintage drawing.

It says: "What it is: A silky smooth pressed powder that can be used as a highlighter, shimmer, and shadow.
What it does: This highlighter, shadow, and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and younger while adding a subtle glow. Layer this paraben- and talc-free formula on your lids for luxe-looking lashes, sweep it on your cheeks for a sexy sheen, or use it as an all-over finishing touch before hitting the town. "

As you can see, the texture is almost creamy so the powder is pigmented. The quality of the product is absolutely perfectI like that the powder adheres properly to the brushes. There's nothing more annoying  to put again and again more powder on your brush...

♡Verdict:

♡♡♡♡/5

♡Pros:

+ Intense pigmentation
+ creamy, easy to blend

♡Cons:

- Pricy: $24

Clinique Pore Refining Solutions

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

This is my new Clinique product, I hope it will be the miracle solution because I don't know what to do to reduce my pores...
I tried the Sadick Park Avenue prescription, but I can't wait 4 or 5 weeks...I'm not a patient person, not at all, I always need to have fast results!
So it says " Helps skin bring healthier cells to the surface for a tighter, smoother, younger look. In 2 weeks, pores appears 58% smaller. Apply morning and night..." I'll see if the promises are kept.

Apart that, as usual Clinique products are 100% fragrance free and the quality of the packaging and the  the cream are very nice. The consistency of this correcting serum is like a make up primer. Your skin is super soft after application, what is very pleasant.

I can't see the result yet, but I hope in 2 weeks I could see if the diference.

My horrible large pores...

Sorry, it's gross...but this is for the science! You will see in 2 weeks if this skincare product worth to be bought or not :)

***

Ok, now it's been for more than 1 month that I'm using this product and the result is not what I was expecting...I does control the excess of oil but my pores are still there!!!!! I can't see a difference before and after!
It's just the same, I can't see anything. I'm still using it hoping that at the end of the bottle, I'm gonna see the difference, but it really doen't work on my skin.
Pfff so disappointed...I really need some advises because I can't stand it anymore!

Please help me to find the solution!

Taupe Nail Polish - Essence Color & Go - Walk Of Fame

Essence Color & Go - 34 Walk Of Fame

The other day, I went to Ulta, a store I've never been in my life, it doen't exist in France, that's why...
So, this brand is like Sephora, we can find some high-end products ( Smashbox, Urban Decay, Philisophy) but also some drugstore makeup (Rimmel, Cover Girl, L'oreal). It doen't look as nice and elegant than Sephora, but it's a good alternative to buy on store or online all the cosmetics you need in the same place! Moreover, I found some value kit which were very interesting too :)

So I finally found the color I wanted to my nail polish for a long long time, a very pretty taupe color for less than $1...incredible!
Ok, the size is not as big than a Elf nail polish but contrary to their super bad quality ( it chips in 2h...horrible...), those nail polishes from Essence stay put for several days. Today is my third day with it and it's still there without any chip...nice right?

Of course the bottle is small, 0.16fl.oz or 5l, but frankly, I never use the entire product anyway...and with such a nice quality and price, you can buy a back up polish quite easily. It was such a nice surprise!

Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre - Review

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Do you need a small potion to spice up your look for a party night? I got it! This is it, the Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre does his job, and well!

I think this is the most shimmery/glittery product I have in my makeup collection. It's incredibly efficient and just a tiny drop is necessary to product its effect. So be careful, don't apply too much of it on your eyes because this liquid lustre is very very strong.

As you can see, shimmers are on the bottom of the bottle. You have to shake it before to use it of course!

I'll soon make a video on my channel to show you how shimmery this potion is and of course, I'll make a video makeup tutorial, because it's not so easy to use that. I'll create a party look with it, I already have some ideas about how I can apply it in different ways. On the lids, cheek bone or lips...we'll see what is the best way to wear it.

This cute little potion has a great packaging. it's going right through the goal, it shines and it shows, you can not go wrong. I think it's something very important in cosmetic to think about the look of the product. Sometimes we can see very cheap things on stores...I won't say what brand...I can't buy something I don't find attractive...especially when you buy high-end products. Makeup is so expensive!
So, I guess that Lorac graphic designers did a great job :)

As I said, I just applied a tiny tiny drop of the liquid lustre. I was able to spread the product over the whole hand. So imagine the effect on your eyes! I think if the product is not used in the right way, this can really make big damage on your look. I hope mine will be good...don't hesitate to let me a comment when I'll try it. Have you ever try this?

Smashbox Photo Finish Luminizing - Primer - Review

Watch the video HERE

Priming your eyes or your face is essential. The result is so much better when you apply a primer before applying your favorite eyeshadow of your foundation!

The consistency of a primer is very nice because. it's a creamy texture and something very light. You can't feel it when it's on your skin. You only see that your skin is soft and smooth, a perfect base for applying your makeup. It also very effective to make your makeup to stay put on for longer.
It's good for oily skin, it reduce excess shine on the T zone. Thanks to primer, you'll have a flawless look!

This Smashbox Photo Finish Luminizing is slightly tinted, but by spreading, the color fades to your complexion.

How to apply a primer? It's quite simple: first, apply your moisturizer, second, the primer, and after, your foundation and your eyeshadow.

Orgasm Illuminator

See how primer is effective! On the right it's without primer and on the left, with it.
The result is amazing, it's so much more intense and it stays put all day long. How could you live without it after this comparison?

Monolid Love, My Monolid Story

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Hi guys,

I'm proud to be featured by the super site: Monolid Love. This is my monolid story!
Please check out this site, it's such a treasure for us monolid girls and the two creators, Vivian and Amelia  are absolutely gorgeous and passionated by our singularity.

Thank you girls!

My Story:

We are ecstatic to have our first guest post on Monolid Love, and this comes in the form of our monthly My Monolid Story, written by the gorgeous Flo.
This South Korean babe grew up in France and currently resides in the United States. She shares with us her experiences and struggles growing up in a country where people don't quite look like her.
~*~
When I was young, I wanted to look like the girls in magazines - to have big, blue eyes and most of all have eyelid creases. It is difficult to find a role model to follow when you are Asian, uprooted from your home country and living in a place where people are not like you.
In French magazines, there is only one type of look, the Caucasian. Ethnicities are not developed, it is very difficult to find even Arab or African beauties even though France is full of these beautiful people.
When I was young, I couldn’t identify myself with anyone and I was quite insecure with my monolids and my difference. During my teenage years, as an adopted girl with a mother who has never used makeup, makeup was complicated.
I had to learn everything by myself. At that time, there was no Internet or not much information available to me. So I had to try several different types of makeup to finally find what suited me best.
My first purchase was a mascara because I dreamed of lengthening and curling my straight and short lashes. Indeed, another issue of being Asian - straight eyelashes.
My pleasure at that time was to be the makeup artist for my friends before we go clubbing!
I guess I found my signature look in the end, and I think that the best way to enhance monolids is to give them some definition. That is to say to give volume in some areas and depth to the other because our eyelids are quite heavy and flat.
Eye shadows in natural tones such as taupe, brown and beige are great, as well as tones like bronze or gold. These colors immediately give a touch of elegance and a nice finish.
I also put considerable importance on the eyeliner. Monolids tend to cover the lashes, so what I do is simple - I draw a thick line around to enlarge the eye and to give it a beautiful shape. The cat's eye effect!
Otherwise, obviously we are trying to create a smooth eyebrows line, making a little up to the outer corner, again, this is to break the mass and the flatness of the eyelid. For mascara, remember to curl your lashes before applying as it really opens up the eyes.
Today, I’m still a little bit frustrated because the typical eyes (creased lids) are so much easier to make up and offer much more opportunities for creativity than monolids. But I like my monolids, they are a part of my identity, so I try to accept and to enhance them too.
I hope my Youtube channel and my blog can help many girls like me who never could quite find anything in the magazines. It is still difficult to find real monolids on magazines or even on the internet. It’s a pity because diversity is much more interesting, uniformity is so boring !
A big thanks to Monolid Love to letting me speak about my experience.
Love,
Flo

Be or not Yu Be?

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well today! I 've just tried my Yu-Be products and I have to say that is quite surprising.

I always wanted to try this cosmetic brand because I love the packaging...so bright and so japanese ( I love japanese graphic design and most of all, japanese packagings, I have a great book collection about it) It's colorful, cute and it's japanese.

So luckily and thanks to Yu-Be PR, I received a mini kit to try and here is my review.

Yu-Be is a very old Japanese brand, 50 years and the #1 selling medicated vitamin-enriched skin care cream in Japan. They are specialized in dry and sensitive skin ( so perfect for me).
Products are formulated with camphor, this is the scent which caracterize Yu-be. I have to say that the smell of camphor is very very strong. Which is not what I prefer it disappear in 10 to 15 mins, it's good to know...
So, camphor helps relieve discomfort for burnings, rashes, irritations, cracked heels, etc. It's not very glamorous but it works!

The moisturizing skin cream is the strongest one in term of odor. Frankly, I can't use it a lot because the smell is too strong for me. I just apply 2 drops on my feet just before going to bed because this is the farthest part of my body from the nose :). The cream is effective, my feet are softer but it's like going to the doctor. Camphor is not for everyone.

I really prefer the lip balm. I use it everyday, the scent is quite different, much like eucalyptus than camphor, so it's fresh and so much better to apply!

Those samples are very nice for a try, because you never know how effective is a product without having tried it and purchased the entire product which sometime doen't suit you...

The moisturizing lotion is very effective but hard to apply such the cream is thick but it is not so bad because thanks to its thickness, you get a skin massage which is very pleasant before going to bed!

The foaming skin polish is my favorite product from the kit, this is a gentle face and body scrub. The exfoliator is formulated with fine grains of rice bran combine with bamboo and gentle cleansing agents. We can also find geranium and camphor, etc. but this time, the smell is light.

I think this exfoliator is magic, the best I've ever tried in my life. In just one single try, my skin was incredibly soft and with no dry sensation after the application. Waouh! I have to buy the entire product  because I never had such a soft skin with an exfoliator even with my high end Chanel  or Lancome. I really recommend this super cleanser! It's probably my favorite product of this month :)

Bath and Body Works - Spring Fragrances

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Sea Island Cotton, Warm Vanila Sugar and Cherry Blossom

Hmmm, those fragrance mists are so sweet and fresh, my favorite one, the "Sea island cotton", the scent is like a clean linen. The fragrance is light, exactly what I like.

The Warm Vanilla Sugar is a classic, not very original, but it's nice, it is a holiday's reminiscence in the tropics, it's not so bad!

The last but not the least, Cherry Blossom, this is the real spring fragrance from the first spring flower, it's more floral one.

Black and Thick Cat Eye with Gel Eyeliner

Sunday, April 10, 2011

I love gel eyeliner, it is so effective and precise. For monolid, it's the must because it doen't smudge at all even in high temperature or humidity. I think this is the product I cannot live without :)
This gel eyeliner is the MAC fluidline, Blacktrack.

Pugs Are Awesome! Buxom Stay There Eyeshadow Pug - Review

Saturday, April 9, 2011

Clic here to see Ulysse

When I saw this cream eyeshadow at Sephora this week, I immediately fell in love, love at first sight! Not because of the  taupe/anthracite color, which I love nor because of the creamy texture no, I fell in love with the name of the product: PUG!!!

This is my adorable Ulysse, my little baby!

Clic HERE to watch a tutorial where I used the product

Frankly, I love the shimmery color and the super creamy texture . I blends very well on the eyelid and the other thing that I really really like, is that is waterproof. It doen't smudge and for a eyeshadow base that you apply all over the lids, it's perfect. Not too light, not too dark.
It's one of my favorite product since a long long time. I will probably use this cream eyeshadow in my everyday makeup :)
I tried a lot of cream eyeshadow when I was in Sephora and this Buxom was the best of them.

I already used this eyeshadow in addition to my black eye liner, the result is very pretty. It's also a perfect base for other powder eyeshadows. The cream eyeshadow help the powder to stick better on the lid.

♡Verdict:

♡♡♡♡♡/5

♡Pros:

+ the Color
+  Price: $17, less expensive than the other brands ($22 or $25)
+ Pug
+ creamy, easy to blend

♡Cons:

- Nothing to declare yet :)

The website says:

The AM Protection Cream is a protective day cream with antiaging properties. You have to apply it after the morning skincare routine on a clean face.
This product protects the skin from pollution or UV radiations (SPF 20), factors that contribute to visible signs of aging. Its oil-free formulation works instantly to smooth skin's texture and tone, creating a perfect canvas for makeup.

The PM Reversal Cream is a cream with antiaging properties. You have to apply it after the night skincare routine on a clean face.
This serum works to stimulate natural collagen production while normalizing skintone and texture. Overall, skin is firmed and plumped while fine lines are reduced and deep wrinkles are filled.

The PM Rejuvenation Cream is an antiaging skincare cream that evens skintone. You have to apply it after the PM Reversal Cream. It boosts the serum's absorption

This nourishing cream targets both redness and dark spots on the skin.
Skin is left smoother with fewer signs of redness and dark spots so less makeup is needed to cover skin.

Smashbox Sultry/ Sweet Glambox Review

Saturday, April 2, 2011

Clic HERE to watch the Sultry look makeup tutorial.

I'm so exited, I just received this little magic glambox from Smashbox and  I can't believe it!
The content is just amazing. On the website, they show the product but we can't guess the size or the quality of the products. I always thought that kind of sets were cheap because the products were different, small, etc. but it is wrong, those products are full size!!!
The separate products cost each about $20, so about $190 if bought separately. This kit worth only $68 at Sephora or on their website! Incredible!

I can't wait to try the two looks, the Sultry one which is the sexy look with a warm eyeshadow colors  (purple/brown, beige, taupe, sand) and the other one, the Sweet, for innocent girls. I'll of course do a review of each products. I already tried the mascara. I love the brush, it separates the lashes like a comb, there are no lumps, my lashes are longer and thicker. I only applied one coat and the result was already visible...nice! I also tried the Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss. Gorgeous, lips are moisturized and the shyness is light with a little bit of shimmer.

There is a leaflet in the Glambox which explains how to use the set. It's very convenient for beginners and there are good tips for advanced makeup users :)
You can check out their website, we can find more tips and beautiful pictures for exemple.

The sweet look is absolutely adorable!

Products in this kit:

• Limitless Eye Liner in Smoke
Photo Op Under Eye Brightener
• Eye Shadow Quad in Softly Seductive
Hyperlash Mascara in Blackout
Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss
Lip Enhancing Gloss in Tempt
• Cheek Duo in Sultry/Sweet
Travel Size Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation Primer

Which is great with this Smashbox Sultry/Sweet glambox, is it contains everything you need to create  two completely different looks. The only thing which is missing is the foundation. What a pity! But I think that with the money you saved with the purchase of this box, you can afford to buy a new foundation!
